HTTPS for custom domains, new terms of service, new bulk actions...

We've started rolling out HTTPS (SSL) support for custom domains in all paid accounts via Let's Encrypt. Almost half of custom domains have already been migrated to HTTPS. If you have a properly configured CNAME DNS record and don't already use Cloudflare's SSL or a different proxy server your custom domain should be migrated to HTTPS in the next few weeks.

New GDPR ready terms of service that include Data Processing Addendum (DPA) are available here.

We've also introduced features that will allow you to quickly remove personal data from old proposals and delete clients completely - two new bulk actions: bulk anonymize proposals and bulk delete clients. If you want to use the anonymize bulk action you need to enable it first in My account / Proposals / Allow admins to bulk anonymize proposals. You can use the anonymize action to remove clients or prospects (+ their IP addresses, comments etc.) from expired unapproved proposals so you can bulk delete the...

GDPR - a heads-up

If you're based in the EU you probably already know that General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on May 25, 2018. However, many don't know that it also affects organisations outside the EU if they process or hold personal data of EU residents.

We suggest you to read information about GDPR released by authorities in your country. If you're outside the EU you can read about GDPR in English on UK's official website: https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/

We're currently working on updating the application to make it easier for you to be GDPR compliant. Also terms of service and privacy policy will be updated accordingly.

Email service migration

This message only applies to users who don't use their SMTP server for sending emails.

Because of the upcoming policy changes (mandatory DKIM and SPF verification) of our current email provider (Mailgun.com) we won't be able to send emails on your behalf unless you switch to the new provider Postmarkapp.com by verifying your email addresses in My account / Email & domain authentication. Or alternatively you can set up your SMTP server in My account / SMTP server.

You can verify all email addresses by clicking the verification links in confirmation emails from Postmark, and Postmark will allow us to send emails on your behalf.

However it's highly recommended to also authenticate your domain by adding SPF and DKIM records to your DNS (there's a guide in My account / Email & domain authentication) to increase the deliverability of your emails. It's a little bit more complicated, but it's definitely worth it, since Postmark will be explicitly authorized ...

New features: custom client fields, quick cloning, new themes...

​As usual, we compiled the summary of important products updates since the last blog post. Next week it will be four years since we started working on NiftyQuoter. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for your continued support!

New features:

  • You can add up to 10 custom client text fields in your account settings.
  • New "Quick clone" button for easy cloning of frequently used proposals - you need to add proposals to the list on the overview screen first.
  • Added 13 new themes.
  • Users can use shared email addresses (quotes@yourcompany.com etc.) for sending emails - only admins can set a different "from" address in each user's profile.

Below is the summary of all the new features and improvements we've made since the last blog update.

  • Multiple pricing tables in a single proposal.
  • The ability to attach the PDF version when sending emails.
  • You can add a purchase price (= cost) to line items to calculate and display profits on the dashboard.

I would like to summarize the main improvements of NiftyQuoter we have done during October in this post. One of the main changes is a redesign of the app. I hope you will love it. Here is the list of some other notable updates:

  • CSV import/export - ability to import and export price quotes from/to CSV files.

September product updates summary is here. We are pleased to inform you about some new features we have made over the past couple of weeks:

It's time to summarize product updates since the last blog post. Only the significant new features are mentioned here:

We've been busy refining existing and adding new features in the past month and a half. Here are some of the major improvements:

Optional line items implemented

Last week we added support for a frequently requested feature - optional line items in quotes.

It works like this: you can mark some line items as optional and also pre-select them by default. Proper usage of optional line items should reduce redos and unnecessary communication between you and your clients since clients can select what they want by themselves. Also you should sell more products or services because you can offer more premium options they can choose from.

New product features and improvements

This is an overview of the changes we have made over the past couple of weeks.

  • revamped dashboard - nicer and with more useful data about your current proposals
  • text templates cloning
  • you can now append multiple text templates to a single proposal - a new way to compose proposals
  • better support for custom background images in proposals
  • Capsule integration can now import only recent clients - useful if you have many legacy clients that don't need to be imported
  • FreshBooks integration automatically creates clients in FreshBooks if needed when exporting a proposal
  • small icons indicating proposal's integration on the dashboard and on the proposals page
  • a lot of other small tweaks and fixes

Introducing Harvest integration, Highrise integration updated

Last week we rolled out the Harvest integration. It allows you to easily import all your clients from Harvest to NiftyQuoter with one click of a mouse. The other way - from NiftyQuoter to Harvest - is also supported. When you export a proposal it creates an invoice, a project and a client in Harvest automatically.

We also updated the Highrise integration to be even more time-saving than before. Now it supports deal importing, automatically exports a client when exporting a proposal and syncs proposal's state to Highrise. So for example when a client approves a proposal our proposal software updates deal's state in Highrise to won state.

FreshBooks, Capsule integrations, quick search feature

In recent days we have rolled out two new integrations. Integration with FreshBooks provides an easy way to import clients and export proposals as invoices. Capsule integration supports importing clients as well, but allows both export and import of proposals from Capsule's opportunities. You can easily set up these integrations in the integrations tab in your account settings.

Another cool feature that was implemented recently is the quick search - you can now search for a proposal or a client from any page using the smart search field at the top and jump right to it's details page.

We are rolling out some major features today.

  • Highrise integration - you can now import clients or export proposals with one click.
  • Proposals can be sent to multiple people in one company, you can see who viewed it and who not. Each person has his or her own unique link.
  • Clients were split into people and companies. One company can have more people.
  • Better and faster selection of proposal's clients using an advanced autocomplete field.

Today we are introducing our service plans. We tried to come up with a fair and adequate pricing. We hope our customers will feel it the same way.

Since we work hard to improve our product and we roll out updates continually, I would like to summarize the main updates we did in September in one place.

New features:

  • suggestions appear when editing a quote item name
  • you can add a description to the quote items
  • you can add a custom CSS code to the proposal themes to further customize its look
  • custom domains - you can now use your own domain e.g. proposals.mycompany.com instead of mycompany.niftyquoter.com
  • cloning of existing proposals
  • quote discounts - you can now define a relative (%) or absolute ($) discount for each quote item and/or a discount for the whole quote

NiftyQuoter Launch

Hello world,

I'm happy to announce that we are launching NiftyQuoter today.

NiftyQuoter is an online proposal software web app. It's purpose is to make creating and managing sales proposals much easier, less time-consuming and also to deliver nicer and better proposals for your clients. We know the struggle of creating sales proposals in Word, converting them to PDFs and attaching them to emails - that's why we decided to make something about it.

NiftyQuoter is currently in free beta phase. We are looking for your feedback to make our app even better.
